I guess I've been tagged! I just remembered that I actually got tagged last summer but it was right before we left for vacation so I was going to do whatever it was I was supposed to do when I got back. Well I totally forgot! I feel awful-what a horrible person I am. So anyway I've been tagged again and this time I'm going to do it right. My good friend Cyndi tagged me. You have GOT to read her blog-she is hilarious and is one of the best scrappers I know. She is amazing. So anyway, copied and pasted directly from Cyndi's blog-here are the tag rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and leave a comment on their Blog. 2. Post the rules on your Blog. 3. Share 7 random facts about yourself on your Blog 4. Tag 7 random people, linking to their Blog. Let each person know by leaving a comment on their Blog.

Ok 7 random facts. Wow. I'm such an uninteresting person I don't know what to write! Ok here goes:

1. I live on a working farm. My husband is a full time farmer, one of the few left in this country.
2. Each of my kids has a different eye color. Not different on each kid though. One has brown eyes, one has blue eyes and one has hazel eyes. I'm no science expert but this seems weird.
3. I am addicted to playing 7 Wonders of the Ancient World on the Nintendo DS. Never mind that I don't own a DS. I have to wait until my kids go to bed and play theirs.
4. When I was around 10 yrs old my sister and I leased horses at a stable at an air base on Okinawa. We had no supervision, rode bareback, sometimes without even a bridle, didn't wear any protective gear, fell off on a regular basis (at least I did), and somehow managed to survive. I even got kicked in the leg and still have the dimple in my fat leg to prove it.
5. I graduated from high school with an honorable mention. This is kinda ironic because I'm so scatterbrained it's not funny. Kinda dumb too.
6. Reggie Miller, from the Indiana Pacers, went to the same junior high school that I went to. He was in my PE class. Small world how we both started out in Riverside California and ended up in Indiana.
7. I cannot have my feet touched. It's just one of my quirks and is a very serious one. You know that scene in 40 Year Old Virgin where Andy kicks the girl in the face when she tries to suck on his toes? I can relate. I don't even like to touch them.

7 blogs. This is tough because I don't actually read a lot of blogs. It's because I am on dialup and it's really hard to read blogs when they take forever to load or just simply don't load. Anyway I'll try. I'm not going to tag any blogs that Cyndi tagged. I'll leave comments tomorrow or the next day. It's getting late.

Pork chops and Movie time

First the Pork Chops. This is a really good and easy recipe for the crock pot. I got it from a Taste of Home magazine a LONG time ago. We had this tonight for supper. The original recipes calls for thickening the sauce at the end but I don't bother. If you want to just add some water mixed with cornstarch (probably about 1/2 cup water with a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch) at the end, turn the crock pot on high, and cook until it's thickened a little.

Tangy Pork Chops
4 pork chops
1 large onion, cut up
1 stalk celery, cut up (if you don't have this just leave it out-I almost never have celery on hand)
1/4 cup ketchup
1 can diced tomatoes
2 tbs brown sugar
2 tbs apple cider vinegar
2 tbs worcestershire sauce (I use Angostura brand)
1 tbs lemon juice

Put the pork chops in the crock pot. Put the onions and celery on top of them. Mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over the top. Cook on high for an hour or so and then low for about 5 hours. Serve over rice.

Now the movies.

We like to watch movies so we have a Netflix membership. It's so nice not having to drive to town to return movies and nice not to buy movies that we really don't have room for. So anyway, we get a lot of older movies from them. Last week it was kind of funny-we got two movies that were both about someone breaking out of jail. Both were pretty good movies too.

First we watched The Count of Monte Cristo. I had never heard of this movie (I had heard of the book and it turns out the movie has been done more than once) but I think netflix recommended it or something. Anyway it was a really good movie about a guy whose friend betrays him, he gets thrown in prison (where he is abused, of course) and he manages to break out and get revenge. Then the next night we watched Midnight Express. This is *loosely* based on a true story and was a very good movie, but from what I understand it is not completely factual. I think I'm going to get the book and read it. Anyway it's about a guy that tries to smuggle some hash out of Turkey and gets caught. They decide to make an example of him but he manages to escape and get back home to the US.

Tonight we watched an old classic-An American Werewolf in London. I saw that at the movies when it first came out and decided Steve needed to see it too. Great fun movie. A couple of days ago we watched another old one-The Falcon and the Snowman. Another movie based on a true story and while it was extremely slow, it wasn't a bad movie. I did read up on the characters afterwards and it really is weird how the one guy broke out of jail, committed more than a dozen robberies, got caught again, and is now out on parole. WHAT? And he was originally supposed to serve 40 years (20 with good behavior, I guess). The other guy got a life sentence and I think he only served about 12 yrs of it. Weird justice system. I thought treason was a more serious crime than that. Maybe in the 70's it wasn't.

Other movies we loved are the Bourne movies. They were really good and unlike a lot of sequels, we thought the 2nd and 3rd were nearly as good as the first.

We are now waiting on Oceans Eleven (and if we like that we'll get the sequels to it too). If anyone has some great movie recommendations I'd love to hear them. We have seen so many movies that we hadn't heard of or thought we'd like based on Netflix recommendations and liked pretty much all of them.

Sick house

For the past month we've had sickness in this house. At times it's been ugly. First Sammy and Steve had a cold for a week or so. Then Jenny developed this fever which stuck around for about 9 days. At first I had read about people's kids having this flu/fever and it lasting a long time so I just figured that was it. I hesitated to take her to the dr because of all the other sicky things going around-I didn't want to take her in for one thing only to have her catch something else. Then Jake got the fever (after throwing up in the hall-sorry) and said his chest hurt when he breathed. I thought that was my cue-I had to get them in. So I took Jenny and Jake to the Express Med (like an ER alternative). Jenny had bronchitis and Jake had an ear infection. They both got antibiotics. By the next day Jenny's fever was gone. Serious mommy guilt ensues-if I had taken her in earlier would it have gotten better faster? That night, the night after we went to the Express Med, she threw up. Great. Next day everyone was getting better. By Wednesday Sammy felt pretty good-so she went to her dance class. That night she threw up. A bunch. Beginning to see a very scary pattern here. It wasn't pretty-she didn't make it to the bathroom in time. Next day she was perfectly fine but...Jake woke up and rushed to the bathroom-you guessed it. Threw up. After that everyone was fine-just the aftermath of colds, etc. No more throwing up, thank goodness. A few days later it was my turn. The telltale sore throat-it felt literally like my throat was all swollen and I cringed every time I swallowed. I whined a lot too-I'm worse than a man when I'm sick. No fever or nausea though and it progressed like a normal cold. Now I'm just coughing and clearing my throat a lot.

Sorry if any of that made anyone feel ill. Just wanted to explain why I haven't been blogging at all. Ü
